Hunter Air Purifier
Hunter makes a number of air purification products, but the Hunter Air Purifier QuietFlo 400 is one of its better brands and is something that you should check out. It's a good quality unit that runs in the $250 range, and has generally gotten good consumer reviews. There are a number of things to think about when buying it, as with any air purifier.

This product, the QuietFlo 400, comes with a number of features. First, it has a programmable timer, and a remote control - good for if you are concerned about the noise, because you can just set it to operate when you're out of the house or not going to be in the room (that will still get you a lot of the benefits, by removing pollutants while you're gone - unless you're the source of them, such as if you're a smoker).
The Good:
The good parts about the Hunter Air Purifier - for one, it does a pretty good job of noticeably improving air quality. The filters are pretty inexpensive too, so it's not that much of a hassle to change them. It's also fairly easy to use - not that complicated, with a simple control system, and a design that will blow the air upward out of the air purifier instead of down onto the floor (where it could kick up dust and be counterproductive).
The Bad:
While it's billed as silent, the Hunter Air purifier is actually pretty loud, and even the medium setting can make some noise. The remote and the timer make up for this, however, and this is actually one of the better strategies for noise reduction. The lowest setting as also fairly quiet - so one recommendation is to put it on high when you're at work, and then switch it onto low when you come home. You realistically don't need it going at the maximum setting all the time, unless you've got some serious health issue. The other thing to remember is that often most people will just tune it out after awhile as a form of white noise. Even with a purifier that makes a noticeable buzzing noise, I usually don't end up paying any attention to it.
