Honeywell Air Purifier Filter

Honeywell has a number of air purifier brands - there are probably over a hundred by now, each with varying models. For many of them, you'll need to get replacement filters. Particularly with HEPA technology, the filter will need to be replaced periodically as it wears out or gets too much junk in it. You need to take into account the cost of the filters when you're buying it and when you're maintaining it. A Honeywell air purifier filter can run you up to $120 bucks or so for the high-end HEPA filters, so you'll need to think about this before you actually buy it.

One tactic you can use to save money is to frequently replace the "prefilter" if you have a Honeywell brand that uses both HEPA and a supplemental filter. Usually these are cheaper, and the prefilters are designed to reduce the load on the HEPA filter which is the more advanced one and more capable of catching stuff that the prefilter can't. If the prefilter gets rid of most of the pollutants in the air, the HEPA filter isn't doing as much and doesn't need to be replaced nearly as often. Because the prefilters cost so much less ($10-$15 vs. $80-$120 for the HEPA Honeywell air purifier filter), you will save a good bit of money by stretching out how long your HEPA one works. Often, the cost of a HEPA filter is almost as much as the air purifier itself - so make sure to try to save some money on this front.
