Generally, YES, it will make a pretty big difference. That's subject to the caveat that some air purifiers are not as good at others. Removing dust is something that most do pretty well, though. It's often advisable to make sure that your air purifier has ionic technology if you're worried about dust - it will charge the particles (if you're not a science geek - it makes them stick to stuff). For dust, that means it sticks to the floor around the air purifier or to a plate inside it if it's got one - a great way to get it out of the air.
